Plans for my Daughter’s Birthday Celebration

A few days from now, my daughter will be celebrating her 10th birthday. We have been talking on how she should celebrate it, by having a Jollibee Birthday Party or just inviting few of her friends to the mall to eat out and play at the arcades. My daughter is amicable to both as long as I send the invitations on time.

Anyway, aside from her birthday, I am also thinking of transferring to the new house and give her a room of her own as a birthday gift because that is what she wanted for a long time now. So, the nature of her birthday will depend on the availability of the house we wish to rent. That means if we will be able to make a down payment by the 13th, she will have a malling birthday celebration with few of her friends and classmates instead of a Jollibee Birthday Party.

So, I just hope we will have the house so that she will get double happiness on her birthday. She will have a great time with her friends and a bedroom of her own on the 28th. Wish us the best!

Thoughts of Transferring

As of now, we are renting a house at 4000 pesos each month. It’s a one storey house and is unfurnished. And when it rains, water from the roof goes inside our kitchen. Another thing is that they have the drainage opening at our kitchen near our bathroom which makes it smelly every now and then. This is the reason why my father would not advice us to buy new things for our house such as an LCD TV, contemporary sofas, gas range and dining set. He said we should find a better house before we fill it with things we want.

Now, my mom said that the house we wanted to transfer before is unoccupied and is open for renting at 4000 pesos, not the 5000 that was offered to us last time. This house is fully furnished, has a gate, three bedrooms, a terrace, a store and a tiled living / dining room. If my mom is right about the price, I might be making my down payment this Saturday and move to them by the 28th.

So fast? Well, the house is just a few meters away. We can walk the things going there if we want too. Anyway, wish us luck. I hope we will get the house. It would be nice for the family to grow in.

Easy Cashiering

Did you know that POS systems before are installed separately from the cash registering machine? Yes, they are. I know this because I worked as a cashier about 10 years ago. Before you have swipe the card from the POS terminal and manually encode the approval number at cash machine. Sometimes if the POS terminals are dead, you have no choice but to call the bank to get the approval manually too.

Cashiering in this day and age is so easy. Everything is almost automatic just like how other gadgets and gizmos are developed through the years. As we progress to the future, everything is getting easier and easier by the year!

A Bold Agent

My friend in the US was sharing to me on how she has gotten an auto insurance quote online when the Skycable agent texted me about my interest to have the cable installed. So I texted back that he could come and install it the next day.

So when he came to us the next day, he gave me a form to fill-up. He also said to me that I have to pay 500 pesos for the installation promo fee and another 350 pesos for the transfer fee since I have a previous of having an account with them. I said I have no unpaid balances but he said I still need to pay the reinstallation fee. So I told him OK, what an out of budget situation.

After filling up the form, I gave him 1000 pesos and was expecting a change of 150 pesos but guess what? He told me he has no change and he is asking me for the 150 pesos as a tip!! Imagine? I usually tip installers in my house but this one was very bold and so corrupt! It was so lame of him to say he has no change but anyway, I told him OK, you may have it. I was so furious but I don’t want to be scandalous at that time. I just accepted it as a lesson learned.

Anyway, by late afternoon, they have my prepaid cable installed. I was out of the house because I was with my son at his school. Before I went to school, I told my mom not to give a tip anymore. I said I already gave them a tip – a BIG TIP!! Grrr…

SkyCable Prepaid Cable Promo

Just this afternoon, an agent from SkyCable went to our home and offered us their latest promo regarding their prepaid cable account. Since I was planning to get one, I listened to the agent’s offer.

He said that I could get my prepaid cable account installed for as low as Php 500.00 which includes a seven (7) days worth of load. Aside from the monetary requirement, I must also submit a photocopy of my valid ID and proof of billing. The prepaid cable account has 78 channels including the local TV stations. It also has HBO, Cinemax, Star Movies, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, National Geographic and more. He also said that if I get it now, I can get one of HBO’s promotional bags for FREE!!

I was really interested but the problem was I don’t have an extra 500 pesos for the monetary requirement. All of the money left was already allocated. I told the agent to come back later this week. After explaining it to him, he immediately asked for my name and cell phone number so that he could follow-up. Without hesitation, I gave it to him.

Oh well, I hope to get our own prepaid cable account by Friday so that we will be able to enjoy a weekend of lazy afternoons while watching movies at HBO!!
